Of all the couples who graced us with their special day here at Bright Morning Farm, one couple always reminds us what it means to love through “for better, for worse.”

We first met James and Aubrie in 2024 as they planned their 2025 wedding and upcoming birth of a daughter. They worked hard. They loved deep. They centered every choice around family. The day James told us the baby came too soon, and both mother and child were in the hospital was a heartbreaker. Baby Nora arrived on Dec. 29, 2024, and fought hard for life but died a few days later. ,

They buried sweet Nora in a casket built by her father. The couple worked on healing their hearts while planning a wedding. The right words aren’t always easy to find in times like these. Compassion often means taking the time to just listen. As we talked about the wedding day, James and Aubrie were clear that they wanted to remember Nora in their celebration. They both wore a tiny photo of Nora pinned to the bouquet and boutenierre. A baby box featuring items from her nursery held a special place at the reception.

A perfect Autumn day celebrated their love as family and friends smiled and laughed and cried and raised toasts to their happiness. And there was another special reason to celebrate. It’s not the first time that a couple has let us in on a little secret and asked for help to keep it. We wrapped a bandana around a non-alcoholic champagne bottle just for Aubrie. After a late night photo shoot at the local Whataburger, they left the next day for a honeymoon road trip. Along the way, they stopped for a photo shoot to announce what we already knew:

A baby boy was on his way..

For better. For worse. For better again. That’s the way life goes. Today, James, Aubrie and their beautiful baby cowboy are in their happy place.
